Businesses are evolving. What were once brick and mortar behemoths are now having to re-invent themselves because of advancements in technology. Many brick and mortar stores are having trouble making the e-commerce transition, unable to keep up with online competitors.
Brick and mortar stores require much more capital than a premium online market place. For most brick and mortar stores to be competitive they must buy and maintain premium real estate. Brick and Mortar retailers also must maintain an online presence.
Most successful online businesses, on the other hand, can do all of their business online, and store their goods in physical locations that are cheap and out of the way. They do not need flashy storefronts with bright lights, and modern fixtures. Instead, they can conduct business from unmarked warehouses in industrial sections of a city.
