Kali phosphoricum is commonly known as potassium phosphate or potash. This cell salt is recommended by homeopathic doctors as a possible cure for mental or physical exhaustion among other conditions. In the process of producing this homeopathic remedy, kali phosphoricum is diluted so that no measurable amount of the original potassium phosphorus solution is in the final product; homeopaths teach that the essence of the solution remains behind and does the healing. The effectiveness of this remedy has not been tested in double-blind laboratory research, and there is no peer-reviewed scientific evidence that supports claims about its efficacy.

To make kali phosphoricum, diluted phosphoric acid is added to potassium carbonate, which is then mixed with lactose or diluted further with distilled water or alcohol. One part of the resulting compound is again diluted with more lactose, distilled water, or alcohol. One commonly sold dosage is 30x. This means that the original substance has been diluted 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, or one nonillion, times. Once the compound is diluted to the desired level, it is made into tiny white pills that dissolve into the bloodstream when placed under the tongue.

Homeopathic practitioners prescribe kali phos to people who are under a great deal of stress and manifesting symptoms of mental or physical exhaustion. According to homeopathic texts, symptoms of this condition include a yellow-coated tongue, cold sensitivity, muscular weakness or waking up in the early morning hours hungry with a gnawing pain. Other indications are if the patient gets hunger headaches, perspires from excitement or after eating, dislikes bread, and has a tendency to eat a lot of sweets. The exact dosage depends on the needs of each patient.

In addition to nervous conditions, this remedy is taken when one has restless feet, legs, or sciatic pain. Children with bed-wetting or sleepwalking tendencies may also be given this remedy. In cases of nervous excitement or worry that results in insomnia, it may help to calm the mind and promote sleep. Hair loss, asthma, gangrene, receding gums, and a host of other symptoms are indicators for which a person may be advised take this over-the-counter medication.

Despite its many advocates, there is no reliable research that clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of kali phosphoricum. In fact, most conventional doctors and scientists are skeptical of homeopathic remedies in general. These doctors say that people successfully treated with this and other homeopathic remedies are simply experiencing the placebo effect. Whether or not the results are placebo effect or something else, people should consult with their doctor prior to self-medicating.

@Post7: Someone said that this thing ruined his life. I'm not going to go that far, but I've started this pill the last 10 days and I do think it somehow affects my way of thinking. Maybe it's a placebo (or the placebo effect) and maybe not. Just keep some things in mind before using it.

Kali Phos helps me a lot specially when I am stressed, preparing for an exam or an interview and while in office meetings. My grandparents used and it swore by it, and so do I.

Kali phos 6x ruined my life. Please don't use it. It is harmful to the system. It has deeply affected my brain and made me less spontaneous and alert. I discourage everyone from taking this medicine as it has made my life a living hell. Every single day I regret this unfortunate event and often pray to God to remove the effects of Kali Phos 6x. Hopefully one day I can be back to how I was feeling before I took to this horrible medicine.

I have been using this for a long time. It gave me a good result, but I don't think that cures. It only gives relief. As soon as you stop taking it, the symptoms reappear.

I went to my homeopath because I was having trouble with depression, migraines and anxiety. He examined me, talked to me about my symptoms and gave me kali phosphoricum. I was not expecting it to help much, but within just a few months, I saw a huge difference in my condition. My migraines and anxiety disappeared and my depression symptoms are less.

I went back to report these changes and asked my doctor how kali phosphoricum did this. He told me that kali phos is basically potassium and I was having those symptoms because of a potassium deficiency. Since I am Aries and lead a stressful, busy lifestyle, he said that I will be prone to suffering from this and must take kali phos regularly to prevent it.

He also told me to eat better and eat more of bananas, walnuts, vegetables and lentils. I have also reduced my salt and alcohol intake which has helped as well.

@anon245107-- I take six doses (six tablets) daily of kali phos 30x for insomnia. Some doctors recommend taking even more.

But have you seen a homeopathic doctor for insomnia? You need to have a physical examination first if you haven't yet.

Some people buy homeopathic remedies and use it on their own. But that's really dangerous because some online sellers of these drugs engage in malpractice. And if you take more than the recommended dose, you can experience side effects.

If you go to a homeopathic center and get checked out by a certified homeopathic practitioner, he or she will prescribe the best remedies for you based on your symptoms. You might need to take other supportive remedies along with kali phos for example. They will give you the remedies themselves, and will tell you the exact dose too.

Homeopathy might not be perfect, but allopathy isn't perfect either. I think the issues relating to homeopathy stem from the fact that people expect homeopathic medicine to be completely safe and free of side effects because it's natural.

In reality, homeopathic medications are also medications. And even modern medicines today are mostly made with natural ingredients, as is homeopathic medications. So all homeopathic treatments have to be used with caution just as modern medicines should be.

Even though there might not be scientific research to back it up, I believe that homeopathic treatments are effective. Homeopathy is the oldest form of medicine and it's been tried and used by people for hundreds of years.
